Corporate Video Production Step-by-Step

Our clients are the experts in their field

But often, video production is new to them.

So we begin the production process by taking full responsibility - making sure everything runs smoothly - which is no small point when you’re trusting us to produce something of such importance and value to you.

We understand your production will be just one of the many projects on your desk, so we make it as 'work friendly' as possible. Through careful planning, we take care of every step.  Importantly though, we’ll never leave you in the dark - we’ll keep you informed of progress as we go along.

     Initial Brief

To understand what you want to achieve, we arrange a script meeting with you. This involves listening very carefully, not only to understand the key points, but also to understand how you’d like your viewers to feel after they’ve watched your video and what action you’d like them to take.

We need to know who will be watching your presentation and the most important point to get across - 'if you could say only one thing, what would it be?'

Then we’ll go through all the main points to be covered, and for each of these, we’ll listen to what you have to say, ask questions, take notes and 'gather' any other background information you may have, such as general promotional material, press releases and your website.

     Script Writing

We believe that the script is one of the most important elements of production - it's the very foundation of your project and should be treated with the greatest respect!

Our strengths in script writing lay in our attention to 'structure' – particularly in a longer presentation, where we make sure to create 'unexpected' changes in pace and tempo throughout to keep your audience involved.

A Sound Images video will never coast along with a boring monologue of voice and flat music bed.

With a first script draft written, we ask for your feedback. We then fine-tune the script and prepare for filming….

Preparation of Shot List and Filming Schedule

With your script complete, each scene is referenced with a scene number. We then arrange the filming, identifying the scenes for each location and organising any extra details. These details could include casting and selecting talent, booking a stylist and make-up artist, arranging interviews and testimonials or chartering a helicopter and camera mount for aerials.

This organisation is critically important in making sure that nothing is overlooked…and we’ll work closely with you to make sure our planning fits in with your own work schedules.

Filming for Video and Television Production

Our camera team is headed by Richard Davies. As one of the directors of Sound Images, he has a very personal stake in filming stylish footage.

Richard has more than thirty years of filming experience - and with his understanding of putting a complete project together, he'll be making sure that critical detail, framing, angles, movement and lighting are captured professionally - so when it comes to editing the entire story, we’ll have exactly what is needed.

Our team will also take advantage of any other opportunities they see while on the shoot. This means that for most projects we have more footage than we need for the finished cut. This additional footage – which is kept for you in our catalogued library - could be used to freshen up your video at a later date or to cut a TV commercial or cinema ad.

     Graphics Preparation

Graphic preparation is a very 'creative' process, so as soon as the script is complete, we begin work on graphics. Animated graphics are a powerful way of describing complex concepts, services or events. To make sure all the graphics prepared for your video match the image you want to present, we’ll look closely at any existing graphic work you’re currently using.

Editing for Video and Television Production

After cataloguing all the scenes and selecting the best takes, we then begin the actual editing of the vision.

This is a very time consuming process - particularly when you're as fussy as we are. For an ‘average’ 6 to 8 minute marketing video, we’ll need at least 5 days of editing.

Review and Fine-tuning of Your Production

With your production complete, we get your feedback …

...and as promised in our guarantees, we’ll fine-tune and polish, based upon your input, until you’re delighted with the finished result.

     Television Commercial Approvals & Adstreaming

For television commercials that will be played on ‘free-to-air’, there is the additional step of getting approval from the governing body that regulates this.

This is something we organise for you, though you may need to supply supporting documentation for any claims that you make. Here is a link to the Free TV website that explains this process in more detail. (http://www.freetv.com.au/Content_Common/pg-CAD-About-CAD.seo)

Once your commercial has been approved, it’s then ‘adstreamed’ via the internet to your selected television station(s).

After working successfully with Sound Images on another task, this time the project contained subject matter that was very sensitive and a personal issue.

The whole team provided an environment of kindness and support during the entire process from filming to editing.

As a result, I can say unreservedly that we will continue our relationship with Sound Images as we move forward to produce further content and material in the future.

Tip

Airtime spots on Metro TV can be expensive and reach too wide an audience - so why not try cinema, which targets a more local audience? This is a very cost effective and powerful medium, often overlooked
